Readings

Lend Us Your Ears

Public readings are an important aspect of Jolly Pig Project. Whether it's a stage play, a television pilot, or a screenplay, all scripts need to be read out loud by actors in front of an audience. It can be nerve-racking, but at the end of the day, it's the best way to find out if a joke is working or if an emotional moment resonates. All scripts are meant for people, so it's natural that bringing together big groups of people help writers revise their drafts.

In 2018, JPP hosted 4 successful readings. For 2019, we hope to continue this trend. Some will consist of original pilots, others short plays; some will be refined and extensively rehearsed, others more casual. The goal is to create an environment that best fits the work being read. All readings will be free and open to the public. Many readings will include mixers afterwards so artists can network. Check here or under the News tab for information about past and upcoming readings.

Stay tuned for more info on our second reading of 2019, which will be in May!
